It's Broken! Barn Rifle Stock Repair!
This is a little 22 that has spent it's life in the barn. It mainly just needed a good cleaning and the broken wood put back together. It is still used in the barn so this repair is just to get it working again and clean it up a bit. This is NOT a restoration by any means. Just an example of how the wood an be repaired.

Allis Chalmers FB 2024 Head Gasket Replacement!
Переглядів 4124 місяці тому
This time around I need to replace a bad head gasket in the Allis Chalmers FB2024 forklift. The little Waukesha ICK was blowing out some bad smoke last time I ran it and I was not able to get it running again after the last video. I was lucky enough to find a NOS head gasket and get it installed. I also had to repair a broken stud in the head. Items used: Pig mats: amzn.to/49qIQD3 Propane Tank:...
Allis Chalmers FB20-24 Forklift, Let's get it Running!
Переглядів 6604 місяці тому
I've been looking for an inexpensive smaller forklift for some time now. After missing several opportunities, I found this old FB20-24 Allis-Chalmers 2,000lb forklift for sale. Paid $500 for it and traveled about 250 miles round trip to grab it. This video is my journey to hopefully getting it running over about a months time. Several parts were in need of replacement by the end of the video. I...

Machine Caster Wheel Solution for Home Wood and Machine Shop Flexibility!
Переглядів 6625 місяців тому
I bought these to put under a 2,000lbs Metal Shaper that I had in my shop that I needed to move around once in a while. These casters allow you to move a machine around as well as screw down the feet and easily level a machine and keep it from moving around when you don't want it to. I also purchased a smaller set to put under my 600 lbs Keller Hy-Duty 5 power Hacksaw! They work much better tha...
South Bend Lathe 13" Cleanup and Tune UP!
Переглядів 1,4 тис.5 місяців тому
Click half way through to not listen to me talk! 2:19 Just a quick clean up and tune up on an old neglected lathe. Not doing a restoration here, just getting this thing back up and running! These old South Bend 13" lathes were pretty stout machines for their size. They usually outweighed modern 13x40 lathes by about 4-500 lbs. They are still very capable of producing very accurate work as well.

South Bend Heavy 10, In the Beginning....it was Broken!
Thank you - this was so informative and helpful. I inherited a 1987 Speedmaster from my brother-in-law and it hadn't been fired or cleaned since the 80's. Your step by step video was super clear and helped me get it apart for cleaning (and back together afterwards). Can't wait to see how it fires. Cheers!
That threaded plug is called a set screw .
How do you fix your cold ac.i have only heat coming out and my rear controls where the rear passengers can control went out just went dead
Help, been trying to install the bolt hold open and ai can get all the pieces reinstalled but still won’t hold open the bolt. Using the Volquartsen black bolt release. Any idea what I am doing wrong. ?
Good video, now my 10-22 is back working!!!!
,,, grippy side to brass ,
how much the thread and pitch size in barrel I've been looking for this for a long time, can AR15 barrel be installed on a Savage receiver?
Hit the bluetooth MS30 with the blow torch and it worked then dropped...Hit it again with more heat and it seems to have fixed it. At least I know root cause if it blows during the pork loin today :) Thanks for the advice !!!
I'm about to replace my friends rear shocks in her 03 tahoe. Your video helped give me even more confidence than I already had! Thank you
Ok Brother, I am sure we will both agree this is a JOKE of a fix. I made a video of the nationalmatchshim on my channel and yes it is going to cost you a grand total of $11 bucks, but it will remove every bit of that upper and lower slop PERMANENTLY my friend. Check it out and then let me know what you think. I have it on all my ARs and they are QUIET, none of that rattle you are dealing with
This worked on my pit boss electric! Thanks! Used a heat gun on the base of the heating element until smoking/steaming. I think there was moisture.
Very interesting. Nice work sir
You are wrong, there is no boot on my 2002 Tahoe.
Probably came off at some point. It had one from the factory.
That was pretty awesome. This really helped out my issue in my house
Enco were made in Europe but that factory is closed. This is very similar to my Shenwai900 12 X 36 Taiwanese lathe except mine has a screwed on chuck. I had to make a special tool to change the chucks. I have it 40 years and would not take any money for it because it is so good. The solenoid forward and reverse switch is long burned out but I fitted a push pull cable to it instead and it works perfectly. The slides as scraped on mine too.
Toll gemacht und wunderschön, aber so viel Arbeit???
It might not work for everyone, but it worked for me. Thanks!
Try a multitool.
I don't think a Leatherman would work very well. You talking about an oscillating saw?
@@precisionmachineshed Yeah, an oscillating tool. I normally don't like using these but I've seen a few videos where they seem to be useful with plaster walls.
I tried starting out with a mini lathe and then I got in the car accident and my girlfriend kept everything and sold everything when I was in the hospital. It sucks when you come home to no tools
Sounds like a crappy deal for sure!
Thank You!! I'm in the process of restoring a MW 1943 model. I'm to the head stock cleaning. This video helped me.
Do you know how to make mossberg 590 magazine tube to frame threads
I would need to look at what you are referring to. Off the top of my head, I should be able to make just about any thread on a lathe.
You shouldve just taken of the treads, placed your new uncut stringer against the side of one of the exisiting stringers and just traced it. Then you have the oppertunity to replace the nails in the stair treads with screws. 3 -4 hour job
I made a square cutting tool seven years ago for a magazine tube I had to thread at 1:12 tpi, but I don't recall putting any angle on the cutting tip. The tube has fairly loose tolerances, so maybe that's why I got away with it. I am about to modify another tube, so I watched your videos as a refresher. My only wish is that you had shown all the math needed to determine the angle in degrees. After a couple of hours of research I finally figured it out and realized you rounded up to the nearest whole number.
Great video. I recently bought the same lathe. What oil do you use in the head stock is it iso32. Thanks
That should work. I no longer have this lathe, but it was a mid weight machine oil.
I just did the electronic front and electronic/air rear shocks on my 2003 Yukon Denali. I used a jack and jack stands. With the Yukon on stands, the jack was used to support the axle and the control arms. I removed the wheels and the rear fender liners for better access in the back. For the fronts, the liner could be pushed out of the way. I used a pair of vise grips on the front shocks to keep them from spinning while removing the top 15mm nut. The jack was also very useful for compressing the front shocks so there were enough threads exposed to push the electronic connector on until it clicked into place. For anyone doing this job, the grey plastic portion of the front shock electronic connector rotates to release it from the shock. That was the only tricky part to figure out. Total time was about 2 hours. A shop quoted me $640 to do the job.
Great help!!!!!!!
Looks good. The only comment I have is to have longer bolts so you could add locking nuts. Thanks for the video
So helpful! Many thanks!!!
Good ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I believe the action is Rem model 30.S. Caliber could very well be a 375 H & H.
Was a 1917 Enfield and it was a 338 WM.
Great video! Excellent work. Very simple. How did it shoot?
It shot pretty decent. I didn't spend too much time using it until I machined up a 20 tac barrel for it.
Great to see a stock made by a person with "normal" tools! No belt sander, etc. What finish did you use on the stock?
I used Pro-custom gun oil. Works pretty good and holds up really well. You can make it shiny or dull.
How can I tell how old my 552 is
Would need to do a serial number lookup.
@@precisionmachineshed couple marking on the left side of the barrel at the very back. And a set of numbers half way put the barrel. Tried to look it up on line. Just don't know enough about it to make sense out of it.
Roll up a piece of tape for the back side to hold it while you sand it
Thanks for making this video. Just picked one up from a pawn shop.
Never seen a barrel where the OD ran true with the bore. Your thread relief groove is way to wide, A 5/8-24 thread should be 5/8 long, not 1/2. then you would not need to shorten your thread protector. My 2 cents.
So, what ever happened with the action?
Its a 6 BR now. I can make a video on it if you want.
@@precisionmachineshed I'd love to see how it performs.
Nice job bringing an old gun back to life! I've had some luck using a clear cyanoacrylate and mixing it with the sanding dust from the wood. It still won't be a perfect match to the original but it's pretty close. The sanding dust doesn't seem to interfere with the accelerant.
What kind of chuck are you using to hold the barrel?
I want to say I counted 4 in the video
@@CheesytarianI am sure it’s some kind of 4 jaw, I was just curious of the brand. It looks more shallow than most.
That makes sense 😅
It is one I made. Thinnest profile to fit shorter barrels.
looks like a great machine, how much did you pay?
$1k for the machine $5K to have to reground and brought back into spec by the machine rebuilder.
How about heat melting the tape ?
Haven't ran into that issue. Unless you are running a full auto or doing mag dumps, doubt you'll ever need to worry about it.
@@precisionmachineshed Thanks may try it .Sant Victor been a big piece of 💩dumped over 3k into it still eating money 💰 to fix it.
I LOVE THAT RATCHET!!!!
The ways are gorgeous on that!!!! I have a 5914 and love it. Its the lathe I learned on in HS.
What if a guy has some minor scratches in the clear or even small chips in the clear but the wood is ok. Can I do anything to remedy the eyesore? On a rem 700 bdl with the gloss finish
Yes, You can put some stock finishing oil over the old spot and sand it down with 1,000-1,500 grit several times and eventually you will fill up the chip or ding if it's tiny. Then you'll need to buff it back out.
I have a SB 11”. Wondering what does the L refer to also a Heavy 10. Thanks
Not sure other than it designates it as the "Heavy" vs the 10K which was the "Light"
Wouldn't it have been better to cut the threads at the correct length, instead of cutting the thread protector? Most threads are long enough to put a lock nut and some even come with a spacer washer. Now it's so short that only has option for one style device. Even my 10mm pistol comes with longer thread's.
Where did you get the grey body to apply to the end of the barrel? Part # and or fitting.
I made it. Just a piece of Delrin plastic with a rubber tipped compressor nozzle and 4 nylon bolts. Pretty simple to make if you have a lathe.
May i ask what quick change tool post are you using ? and did you need to modify anything to put it on ?
An Aloris BXA and just a T-Nut to install it onto the compound.
Camfor?
This is helpful. I have a heavy 10 L and I can’t remove the handle. Taper pin is out. Back gear is still installed. All I want to do is clean it. So I’ll try tapping from the front. Thanks.
